Carter See and Harper McCown named 2023 KeyBank Tulip Ambassadors

Approximately 40 KeyBank ambassador candidates competed at our event on Feb. 9 and Carter See, a 5th grader, and Harper McCown, a 4th grader were named our KeyBank Tulip Ambassadors in a very tight competition. Each candidate was asked by Miss Washington Regan Gallo “Why Do you Want to Be a Tulip Ambassador?”

Great Answers

Both Carter and Harper gave answers that impressed the crowded Maple Hall in La Conner, but the judges as well. IV Reeves from KeyBank asked each candid their “surprise question.” Harper replied to the question of who is your favorite cartoon or make believe character by asking if it could be a TV character. She chose Rori from Gilmore Girls fame because she thought the character was was fun and interesting. Carter responded to the question of “what animal would you choose if you could choose any animal for a pet?” by choosing a guinea pig because they were cute and pretty smart at mazes.

Both Harper and Carter enjoyed giving “High Fives” to IV Reeves as their names were announced.

Official Appearances

And, the next morning, they appeared on KAPS and KBRC Radio for their first official duties. They will be making appearances throughout the Tulip Festival, including going to Olympia to present Gov. Inslee with a 2023 Tulip Festival poster, greeting visitors at the PACCAR open house on April 15 and appearing in the Tulip Parade on April 8 in La Conner.
