Saturday brought out sunshine and crowds to the annual Tulip Parade in La Conner on Saturday. Hundreds of participants, thousands of spectators and lots of horses, dogs, children, cars, and bicycles all combined for a fun and festive time. Our community gathered around to make the parade happen — La Conner Fire Department and the Town of La Conner, the La Conner Marina, the Skagit County Sheriff’s Office, the La Conner Kiwanis Club — all helped make it possible.
Our parade announcer Phil Prudhomme and his sidekick (and our Tulip Festival Board Secretary) Rachael Woods picked their favorite from the 40+ parade entrees — the Skagit Latin Horses Association. The prancing, dancing and delightful horses entertained all as they made their way through the parade route along First Street. The group of about 25 horses and their riders are a group of family and friends who ride to showcase Latin culture to the community and future generations.
