Tulip Ambassador event set for February 6

January 08 2019

Each year we choose two ambassadors to represent the festival from fourth and fifth grade students in Skagit County. The festival staff is currently working on scheduling classroom appearances at elementary schools throughout the area.

At the event on February 6 at Maple Hall in La Conner (it begins at 5 pm), candidates will be judged by a panel of 5 judges (from the Tulip Festival Board of Directors) on how they answer two questions: “Why do you want to be a Tulip Ambassador?” and a surprise question that is usually something like “What is your favorite subject in school and why?.” At the conclusion, the boy and the girl with the top score are named our ambassadors.

The ambassadors make appearances throughout the festival, go to Olympia to meet the governor, and do a behind the scenes tour of Washington Bulb Company, among other things.

A candidate’s packet is available under the Forms and Press Releases tab here on our website.
