Lions Club of Mount Vernon nets over $12,000 in 2019 tulip sales

June 26 2019

30+ years—that’s how long the Lions Club has been selling tulips at the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. All the monies they net go to help people get eye glasses and hearing aids.

Lions Club member Paul Thompson reported recently that the tulip sales were started by Ernie Brazas, with help from John Pederson as the years went on. Now Denny Johnes also helps out! These dedicated people sell 95% to locals (visitors can buy too, but often they are getting tulips in the fields). The club sells tulips from the Lions Club Park in Mount Vernon on a loose April schedule, depending on exactly when the tulips are available! Volunteers staff the booth from 10 am to 5 pm 7 days until the fields are topped.

Paul especially wanted to acknowledge the on-going support of Washington Bulb Company in supplying the tulips at a great price!

Thank you Lions for helping our community!
