Tulip Festival selecting Official Wine By: Cindy Verge
Festival Official Wine Area wineries interested in becoming the Official Tulip Festival Wine are invited to present their wines and proposals to the selection committee on August 28.
This is the first year we have formalized the selection process for our official wine, noted Cindy Verge, executive director of the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival. We want to give each winery a chance to give their proposal to our committee and then we will have a formal wine tasting of the varieties proposed for our Official Wine.
Selection criteria will include taste, the vintners distribution network and marketing plan, demonstration of adequate production levels of the product, sponsorship of the festival and royalties to be paid to the festival. Once the committee has made its decision, the winning winery will be given a multiple year contract as the Official Wine of the festival.
Pasek Cellars has been the Official Wine for the Tulip Festival since 1999. Mount Baker Vineyards and Hoodsport have also served as the Official Wine of the festival.
Interested wineries should contact the Skagit Valley Tulip Festival
