Tulips provide beauty after bloom is over
By: Cindy Verge

Mount Vernon High School Clubs annual tradition

2008 Mount Vernon High School club designs.

Tulips continue to inspire us, even after they disappear from the fields. Often they are captured in photos or paintings, but our local Mount Vernon High School students have a more creative use of the spent blossoms.

For decades the clubs at the high school compete to design the best mosiac from spent tulip blossoms. Each club sends its members out into the fields, gathering the topped tulips. The designs are then put together on the front lawn of the high school. They remain there on display for several days, enjoyed by the public and students alike.
