October 12 2017

Country representatives from around the world, including India, the Netherlands, South Korea, Japan, USA, Canada, England, France, Germany, Italy, and Turkey attended the 7th summit designed to bring tulip professionals together to talk about best practices, new ideas, and business trends. Attendees helped to plant a World Friendship Tulip Garden that will bloom during the 2018 Canadian Tulip Festival. The garden featured the World Friendship Tulip, a cream yellow tulip that is the official tulip of the society.

Tulip Festival Executive Director Cindy Verge shared the current status of our festival and served on the steering committee for the society as vice-chair. As part of the promotion of the summit, she appeared on live tv—click here.

The Skagit Valley Tulip Festival has been a part of the society since its inception, hosting the 2010 summit. In 2013 Jeannette DeGoede, owner of Tulip Town, was named to the Order of the Tulip, honoring her for her work in promoting the society and the mission of the group. The site for the 2019 summit will be announced as details are finalized.
