Savanah Garcia and Ethan Petrick were named our 2017 KeyBank Tulip Ambassadors at Cascade Mall on Feb. 9, 2017. Over 50 4th and 5th graders from throughout Skagit County got a chance to tell a panel of judges why they wanted to be tulip ambassadors.
Savanah is a 5th grader at Jefferson Elementary and Ethan is a 4th grader at Lincoln Elementary, both in Mount Vernon. They will make appearances throughout March and April representing the festival, including meeting Governor Jay Inslee, attending a Mariners game, leading a parade, greeting visitor at the PACCAR open house, and being honored guests at our March 30 gala.
These photos won for the best in their categories: fields, close-up, children and families.
443 entries over 5 weeks of the contest made for some hard choices by our panel of judges. They have chosen three winners, one for Beauty of the Flowers, one for Children, and one for Families. In addition, the festival staff picked one of their favorite photos as Honorable Mention.
Our Tulip Stack in downtown Mount Vernon makes it easy to tell you are in the middle of tulip country!
